Paramahamsa Hariharananda Ji

Paramahamsa Hariharananda, a realized Kriya Yoga master, was born as Rabindranath Bhattacharya in the hamlet of Habibpur of Nadia in Bengal, India, the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, on May 27, 1907. He was born into a wealthy family, to a Brahmin father, Haripada Bhattacharya, and an outstandingly pious, generous, and loving mother, Nabin Kali Devi. The child Rabi would be as luminous and brilliant as the sun, removing the darkness of ignorance from the world, as augured by his father (Rabi means "sun.").

Paramahamsa Prajnanananda Ji

Paramahamsa Prajnanananda was born as Triloki Dash in the village of Pattamundai in Orissa, India. Raised in a pious and spiritual atmosphere, he began searching for a spiritual mentor in early childhood. In 1980, while still a student in college, he met his Gurudev, Paramahamsa Hariharananda, who initiated him into Kriya Yoga. Unlike his peers, Triloki Dash spent much of his time in prayer, puja, and meditation.

He frequently retreated to the solitude of remote Himalayan caves to be in the company of sages and saints seeking ultimate Truth.

About Prajnana Mission

Prajnana Mission was founded by our beloved Gurudev Paramapujya Paramahamsa Hariharanandaji Maharaj under loving and dynamic leadership of our beloved Guruji Paramapujya Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji Maharaj.

In the words of our beloved Gurudev: "My whole life has been dedicated to serving people. As Hariharananda, I give medicines and services to the sick, food to the hungry, education to children, courage to the depressed and spiritual guidance to those who ask. Each human being is the living presence of God. Service to mankind is service to God. To dedicate one’s life for the benefit of others is real service. Please serve people with love and devotion. This is real service to God and Gurus." To fulfil these words of our beloved Gurudev is the real objective of the Mission.

The Mission was formally registered on 12-02-1999 under the Registration of Societies Act 1860 and the Jagatpur Ashram founded by our beloved Guruji became the headquarters of Prajnana Mission. Since then the Mission has been striving to fulfil the wishes of our beloved Gurudev. The Mission is engaged in four major activities for the welfare of mankind in general.

01. Spiritual

An important activity of the Mission is dissemination of the ancient yogic science of Kriya Yoga and the teachings of an illustrious lineage of Masters of Kriya Yoga. The age old tradition of Kriya Yoga has been practiced by seers, saints, and sages since time immemorial. People practiced Kriya Yoga in the Satya Yuga (Age of Truth) when there was no religion. It is therefore not surprising that Kriya Yoga meditation, directly or indirectly, finds a mention in all the major scriptures of the world.

02. EDUCATION

The Mission funds and manages Hariharananda Balshram, a free residential school affiliated to the CBSE for the destitute children of the state of Odisha. Every year the school takes in 40 such students at the entry level and in the year 2015-16, the school will have 480 students on its rolls studying from Nursery class to Std. X.

03. HEALTH CARE

The third major activity is running of the Hariharananda Charitable Health Centers which provide free general health and dental services in its OPD centers at Balighai, Puri district and Bhisindipur, West Medinipur district and subsidized general health and dental services at it Jagatpur OPD center in Cuttack District. Besides these OPDs, the Mission also carries out free mobile general health camps, specialized camps and dental camps in urban slums and rural areas and Village Health Projects in various areas that has little or no access to medical facilities.

04. DISASTER RELIEF

The Mission provides relief to victims of natural calamities such as flood and fire accidents. In some cases it also rebuilds their homes thus helping them in their struggle to come back to their usual way of life.

Besides these above mentioned activities, the Mission also carries out other activities for the benefit of the poor and needy.
